How we price
How we decide what your scrap is worth
We look at four things. You can see them below, and you can change two of them yourself.
- Type of metal. Copper pays more than aluminum, and aluminum pays more than iron.
- How clean it is. Bright copper wire with no insulation or paint sells higher than burnt or coated wire.
- Total weight. We price by weight, so a bigger load is worth more.
- Market rate on the day. Metal prices move, so we do not print a fixed list.
Four ways to get a better price
- Keep copper, aluminum and iron apart. A magnet sticks to iron and most steel, not to the others.
- Remove plastic, glass and rubber where it is easy to do so.
- Leave AC units and refrigerators whole. The compressor and copper coils hold most of the value.
- Send clear photos of the whole pile, plus close-ups of any labels.
